MIDLAND, TX –– A 29-year-old jailer working at the Midland County Jail facing criminal charges after police allege he recorded himself having sex with inmates.
According to court documents, an employee of the jail told investigators Juan Carlos Serna-Venegas had shown her a video of himself and a woman having sex.
According to the coworker, she believed she was the woman depicted in the video. She also stated she had not given Venegas consent to record the intimate encounter.
As the investigation began, authorities seized Venegas' phone and he was placed on administrative leave.
After obtaining a search warrant for the phone investigators found child pornography and videos of Venegas having sexual intercourse with inmates.
As a result, Venegas was charged with two counts of Improper Sexual Activity with a Person in Custody –– a state jail felony –– and one count a Possession of Child Pornography –– a third-degree felony.
Venegas' bond was set at $150,000.
