Update: Suspect Arrested In Connection To Inn of the Conchos Murder

BALLINGER, TX — A San Angelo Murder suspect was arrested Monday after a multiagency operation caught him at the local supermarket in Ballinger. 

According to the Runnels County Sheriff’s Office, on Jul. 5, Deputies with the Runnels County Sheriff’s Office along with the San Angelo Police Department and Tom Green Sheriff's Office conducted an operation in Ballinger, which led to the arrest of Cody Jay Salazar who was wanted for the murder of a Winters man in San Angelo on June 28th, 2021.

Salazar was taken into custody without incident in the parking lot of the Shoppin Basket food store. Salazar also had numerous other warrants for his arrest. Charges included: 

• Poss. Marijuana - $1000.00 bond
• Evading arrest or detention – No bond
• Debit card abuse - $10,000.00 bond
• Murder - $1,000,000.00 bond

Salazar is currently being held in the Runnels County Jail.

Update July 6, 2021 @ 1:00 p.m.

According to the San Angelo Police Department 31-year-old Cody Jay Salazar was arrested for Murder in connection to the Inn Of The Concho Homicide that occurred on June 28, 2021.  

On June 28th SAPD confirmed 41-year-old Daniel Chandler had been fatally shot.

The San Angelo Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division and Street Crimes Division located Salazar in Ballinger, TX.
