SAN ANGELO, TX -- New details have been released in connection to the rumors regarding the viral Facebook post that claimed a "suspicious person/vehicle” had made threatening statements to a local daycare.
According to SAPD, on Wednesday officers were called to a local church with a daycare program about a suspicious subject that arrived in a Dodge Durango.
The man, who was reported to have been suffering from a mental health episode, went inside the facility and made strange statements.
SAPD confirmed that even though the man’s statements were strange, he did not threaten to cause harm to the school by gunfire or any other acts of violence.
Officers later located the man at his residence and Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office Mental Health Deputies were also called to the home. The man was subsequently placed on a mental health-related emergency detention.
"Again, our Department wants to reiterate that no threats were made to the school," said SAPD in a statement. "Officials with the San Angelo Police Department and Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office will continue to monitor this situation."
