SAN ANGELO, TX – The San Angelo City Council met Wednesday morning to canvass the voting results from the May 1 election.
Mayor Brenda Gunter, city council representatives Tom Thompson and Lucy Gonzales and new comer Larry Miller won their elections to the city council.
Miller was the only winner who was not an incumbent and will be replacing Billie DeWitt from Single Member District 6. Miller won by nearly 300 votes.
In other races, Mayor Gunter won her election campaign by nearly 75 percent of the vote. Thompson also won by a large margin of nearly 70 percent of the vote and Gonzales ran unopposed.
The first council meeting with the new council will be held on May 18 inside the McNease Convention Center starting at 8:30 a.m. Prior to taking their seats, the new members of the council will be sworn in.
