SAN ANGELO, TX – Severe thunderstorms packing large hail, strong winds and even a few tornados streaked across West Texas Wednesday night dumping up to five inches of rain in the Abilene area.
Officials in Abilene report dozens of water rescues as street flooding continues to be a major issue there.
Around the San Angelo area severe thunderstorms left hail and heavy rainfall from Sonora to Christoval to Ballinger and Brady. There was a tornado warning in the Novice area as well. There continues to be some minor street flooding in San Angelo.
That same storm system dumped huge hail and prompted tornado warnings from San Antonio to the Metroplex causing major storm damage.
There is a 50 percent chance for continued rainfall on and off in San Angelo Thursday and Thursday night. Rain chances drop to 30 percent on Friday then rain chances increase to 40 percent Friday night and 50 percent again on Saturday. Temperatures will range from the mid 60s Thursday to the lower 70s on Saturday.
This continues to be a volatile situation and residents are urged to keep track of weather developments.
