SAN ANGELO, TX – Shortly before 5:00 p.m. Wednesday officers with the San Angelo Police Department were involved in a high-speed chase with an unknown suspect through north San Angelo.
The circumstances that led to the chase are unknown at this time, but scanner traffic indicated the chase began near 24th Street and N. Bryant Blvd.
The suspect sped up one of San Angelo's busiest streets in an effort to evade police. SAPD officers followed close behind as the suspect reached the city limits. Traveling at least 90 mph, the driver of pickup continued to make his way north on U.S. 87.
As the fugitive approached and passed the Grape Creek area, Tom Green County Sheriff's deputies and a DPS Trooper joined the dangerous chase. The driver continued speeding toward Sterling County.
Scanner reports indicated law enforcement planned to use spike strips to stop the vehicle near the county line.
After several minutes the deputies involved in the chase stated one suspect was in custody.
As of this time, there is no official description of the suspect or the vehicle that has been released by police.
