SAN ANGELO, TX – The suspect accused of shooting a woman at the Super 8 Motel in February has been released from jail.
According to court documents, on Apr. 7, Matthew Dominguez, 28, was indicted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a controlled substance following a shooting at the Super 8 Motel.
The shooting occurred on Feb. 24 on the 400 block of W. Ave L. Dominguez is accused of allegedly shooting a 24-year-old woman in the middle left abdomen. Because of the gunshot the woman was seriously injured and had to have surgery.
Witness on scene told officers with the San Angelo Police Department that the woman and the witness had been inside of their motel room. At one point the 26-year-old left the room. While she was outside the witness heard arguing and then gun fire. When the witness went outside, the 26-year-old and had been shot and was laying on the ground.
The witness told police that she knew who the shooter was and identified him through his facebook. A warrant was then issued and on Feb. 25 Dominguez was arrested and placed into the Tom Green County Jail. During the arrest officers also found Heroin in Dominguez's possession.
Dominguez remained in the jail until Apr. 20. His bond was set at $42,500 and he was released at 8:28 p.m.
Dominguez is already a felon and has been convicted of a number of crimes including possession of a controlled substance and assault.
