BIG BEND NATIONAL PARK, TX – The wildfire in Big Bend National Park continues to spread Wednesday morning.
The wildfire has been burning out of control since Thursday.
Here's the latest from the National Park Service:
Yesterday went very well on the South Rim fire.
As of this morning (Wednesday), the fire is sized up at 929 acres with 35% contained. The cooler temps and increased humidity have really helped reduce fire activity and allow firefighters to make gains.
The Diablos will be coming down the mountain today for some rest. Hotshot crews (Mount Taylor and Carson) will continue taking advantage of containment opportunities and closely monitoring the fire. Structural crews have the Basin developed area prepped and protected.
The Chisos Mountains area of the park will remain closed until further notice.
