Red Flag Warning Issued as Wildfire Danger Elevated Friday

SAN ANGELO, TX – Windy, hot and conditions across West Central Texas are increasing the wildfire danger Friday afternoon prompting the National Weather Service to issue a Red Flag warning.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions will occur.  A combination of strong winds, low humidity and dry fuel will contribute to extreme fire behavior.

The forecast calls for west winds at 15 to 20 mpg and gusty with relative humidities of 5 to 10 percent. Temperatures will reach the mid 90s adding to the danger of wildfires.

A cold front will blow through the Concho Valley overnight shifting winds to the northwest at 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.  Temperatures will drop to the upper 40s

Saturday will be cooler with high temperatures in the upper 70s with north to northeast winds at 5 to 10 mph.
