Lubbock County Sheriff Reappointed to Commission on Jail Standards

LUBBOCK, TX – Lubbock County Sheriff Kelly Rowe has been re-appointed by Governor Greg Abbott to the Commission on Jail Standards.

Sheriff Rowe has over 28 years of law enforcement service. His service record includes serving as the first vice president of the Sheriff’s Association of Texas and as the past president of the Texas Jail Association, and chairman of TEEX Criminal Justice Academy Advisory Board. 

He is also the board manager of the 911 Emergency Communication District and a member of the American Jail Association, National Sheriff’s Association, Texas Corrections Association, and the StarCare Board. 

Rowe attended the New Mexico Military Institute before going on to serve in the  United States Army, then the Texas Army National Guard. He would ultimately complete peace officer training at the Permian Basin Law Enforcement Academy.

In addition to Rowe, Sheriff Pinky Gonzales of Refugio and attorney Ross Reyes of Melissa were appointed to the board for the first time. The appointments are subject to Senate confirmation.
