STAAR Testing Difficulties Hit San Angelo ISD Students

SAN ANGELO, TX – Fourth grade students at San Angelo ISD experienced technical difficulties today during their STAAR writing test.

The following is the statement from SAISD:

Earlier today, San Angelo ISD was notified of a system-wide outage of the Educational Testing System, which administers STAAR. Due to the ongoing technical issues with the testing system, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) has halted online testing today for fourth-grade writing, across Texas. Students that took a paper based test were able to continue and finish their assessments. At this time, TEA has not provided any information regarding how students taking STAAR online will make up the assessment.

San Angelo ISD is disappointed that our students were affected by this interruption and look forward to a resolution for our students from TEA. Our campuses will be in contact with families of students affected by this interruption. San Angelo ISD will continue to focus on the attributes of our Future-Ready Learner Profile of communication, collaboration, critical-thinking and creativity to provide a well-rounded education for our students.
