ASU to Host In-Person Graduations In May

 

SAN ANGELO, TX -- One year later after graduation ceremonies were canceled all across the country, Angelo State University announced its plans to host in-person ceremonies this upcoming May.

According to ASU, nearly 1,000 graduates are scheduled to walk the stage during the five commencement ceremonies.

The university confirmed graduates will only be granted four tickers for family and friends and all seating will be reserved. Only those ticket holders will be allowed to attend.

“We are very happy to return to hosting in-person ceremonies,” said Dr. Don Topliff, provost and vice president for academic affairs. “We’re not completely back to normal, but our graduates will once again be able to walk the stage and celebrate their milestone achievement with their families and friends.”

The five upcoming ceremonies will be spread out over two days.

On Friday, May 14th, ASU will host two ceremonies. 

  • The 5:00 p.m. ceremony will feature graduates from College of Education and College of Graduate Studies and Research in education fields
  • The 7:00  p.m. will include graduates of the Archer College of Health and Human Services and College of Graduate Studies and Research in health and human services fields.

On Saturday, May 15th, ASU will host three ceremonies. 

  • The first will take place at 10:00 a.m. and will celebrate the graduates of the colleges Norris-Vincent College of Business and College of Graduate Studies and Research in business fields.
  • The second will begin at 1:00 p.m. and will feature graduates of the College of Science and Engineering and College of Graduate Studies and Research in science and engineering fields.
  • The final ceremony will take place at 4:00 p.m. and will include graduates of the College of Arts and Humanities and the College of Graduate Studies and Research in arts and humanities fields.

The doors to the Junell Center will open 30 minutes before the start of each ceremony. Prospective graduates can get their tickets through the Dean’s Office of their particular college starting April 20.
