Abilene Residents Without Water After Outage Shuts Down Treatment Plants

ABILENE, TX – Around 7:00 p.m. on Monday, the City of Abilene was forced to shut off water to the city after all three water treatment plants lost power during an outage.

At this time, there is no timetable as to when the power water service will be returned to Abilene water customers.

Officials confirmed that when water is restored, a boil water notice will go into effect. Water customers will be asked to bring water to a vigorous boil for at least two minutes before consumption.

Texans with electricity are asked to conserve as much as possible in an effort to relieve the demand on the state's power grid and help restore service.
