San Angelo Police to Pass Out $100 Bills During Traffic Stops

San Angelo police officers are driving around handing out $100 to unsuspecting citizens, thanks to a generous donation from a local bank.

The bank, who wants to remain anonymous, relayed to police that they wanted to do something nice for the community and believed a friendly encounter from an officer would be the best way to receive the gift.

A total of $5,000 has been donated for the operation, and 10 patrol officers on different sectors and shifts have been selected to disseminate the funds in $100 increments, while wishing recipients a merry Christmas from the SAPD.

There is no criteria for being selected and the encounter may be via traffic stop or routine encounter with the public. **

Chief Vasquez said the program would begin this afternoon and would continue until all the money had been given away.

* The SAPD does not encourage minor traffic violations and the stops made in this program may be made for those exhibiting excellent driving habits.

** All City of San Angelo employees are exempt from receiving the money.

I do not live in San Angelo city limit area but, want to say Thank You to the "Anonymous" Bank for the generous donation & the SAPD. I hope the receiving individuals pay it forward. Remember the reason for the season....I hope & pray everyone has a safe, happy holiday season & Merry Christmas to everyone from us, The Hollebeke's.
What a wonderful gift indeed. I firmly believe in the "pay it forward" mentality. Most people need to stop and think that to "pay it forward" does not always involve cash. Sometimes just helping someone can make the biggest difference. Help them get somewhere, help with groceries to their car, etc... Or, if you do want to do it in cash it doesn't have to be done immediately. It can take several weeks/months/years before some people have the money to do so. But, that's still all part of the "pay it forward" mentality. I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
It is a scam! They now have an excuse to pull you over for no reason. C`mon, think about it, why do you think the Bank has no name. Banks In this town would love to tell you it was them, it is good business. They know it would bring in new customers. Make sure you have a valid drivers license and insurance and no warrants also not smelling of alcohol when you get that 100.00...LOL
Correct when they pull you over it is really to check for any of the stuff I mentioned earlier. .....they are banking on it that you fail.
