Dangerous Winter Storm Could Turn Deadly

SAN ANGELO, TX – Temperatures in the teens across the Concho Valley will continue to drop throughout the day Sunday with blustery winds and snow on the way prompting meteorologists to issue both a Winter Storm Warning and a Wind Chill Warning. 

The warnings are in effect until at least noon on Monday. 

A strong and dangerous arctic storm is blasting through Texas this Valentine's Day with a mixture of freezing rain, sleet and snow coupled with bone-chilling wind chill values endangering everyone and everything outside. 

Heavy snow is expected with accumulations of up to six inches in the San Angelo area.  Wind chill values are dropping Sunday and by Monday morning the wind chill factor will be around 20 degrees below zero. 

Travel will be very difficult to impossible with blowing snow reducing visibility to near zero at times. 

This is a dangerous storm.  Wind chill values below zero can kill pets left outdoors, burst pipes and endanger livestock.  

Officials have requested residents curtail electricity use to avoid power outages. 

Officials have also requested motorists not travel at all and recommend keeping emergency supplies in vehicles.  Blankets, food, water and a flashlight are recommended.
