Ulta Valentine's Live Stream Shatters Viewing Records

SAN ANGELO, TX — Wednesday night’s Ulta Beauty Valentine’s Live Stream Powered by Sports Next Level was the top Facebook post in the entire state of Texas over the past 24 hours, according to analytics from Crowdtangle. The show, produced by San Angelo LIVE!, was presented over Facebook Live, YouTube Live and Twitter via Periscope simultaneously from 6 until 10 p.m. Wednesday evening. It was the third in a continuing series of live streams and this one was a gigantic hit.

Crowdtangle measures social media engagement across all media companies in the world. Among the “hot lists” Crowdtangle publishes is the Texas Local News list of overperforming posts.

Wednesday night and into Thursday morning, the Ulta Beauty Valentine’s show outperformed a mass casualty crash on I35 north of Dallas, a story in Houston about a peeping tom, a piece about the Dallas Stars expressing support for playing the National Anthem, and a piece about the NBA requiring all teams to play the National Anthem before games. The latter two stories were a rebuttal to Mark Cuban’s Dallas Mavericks where Cuban vowed to cease playing the National Anthem.

The Ulta Valentine’s show had a relative strength rating of 89.49x compared to the next story, CBS DFW’s Dallas Stars post that scored more than 20 points lower at 63.59x. The relative strength score is a number compilation of likes, comments, and shares on Facebook, and signifies very strong engagement. There were over 3700 comments alone on the live stream as it happened.

The show was watched by 13,009 people on Facebook and attracted 4,783 likes, comments and shares. The show’s distribution, a key metric for live stream shows, was 20,634 minutes watched. To put this into perspective, the average LIVE! Cover1 Texas High School Football Show averaged around 7,000 minutes viewed.
