SAN ANGELO, TX -- The mystery surrounding the foul-smelling San Angelo water continues. According to city officials, no new information is available, but city staff worked all night with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
State Representative Drew Darby and State Senator Charles Perry are aware of the situation and are working with state officials.
The city is still waiting for the results of the samples collected and until the issue can be identified, the City of San Angelo Water System is under a Do Not Use notice at this time.
Officials are asking that citizens do not use water for anything other than flushing toilets or watering the landscape. This includes bathing, handwashing, or any consumption. The use of bottled water is recommended.
Boiling water will not help because the potential contamination is NOT bacterial and therefore cannot be killed via boiling.
The Do Not Use policy does not allow for retail food establishments to remain in operation at this time.
The measure is precautionary until more information is known, and the city hopes to have lab results later today.
