Will Beto Turn Texas Blue in 2022?

EL PASO, TX – Former US Congressman Robert Francis O'Rourke is allegedly gearing up to run for Governor in 2022.

According to the Texas Democratic Party Chairman Gilberto Hinojosa, (running for governor) it's something O’Rourke is definitely considering.

Beto said during a radio show on Thursday that he has been thinking about the governor seat but nothing in set in stone. His office later released the following statement:

"He has not ruled the idea out but right now he is focusing on his two courses he is teaching and his Powered by People organization."

Beto lost his chance at being a US senator in 2018 after losing to Ted Cruz. Then in 2020 he threw his name into the hat for the Presidency. That run was also short lived.

In the 2018 gubernatorial election, incumbent Gov. Greg Abbott won with 55 percent of the votes over Democratic candidate Lupe Valdez.

The next election will be held in 2022.
