SAN ANGELO, TX – The National Weather Service office in San Angelo has issued a Winter Storm Watch for West Central Texas from Wednesday evening to Thursday evening as a strong winter storm blows through Texas.
According to the NWS, heavy snow and sleet are possible across the Concho Valley. Total snow accumulations of generally two to six inches with local amounts near nine inches in Crockett and Irion counties are possible.
Winds could gust as high as 40 mph and some freezing rain could occur which could result in ice accumulations.
Travel could be very difficult to impossible during the storm. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning and evening commute.
A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant snow, sleet and or ice accumulations that could impact travel.
There is a 90 percent chance of precipitation Wednesday night and an 80 percent chance on Thursday.
This is a developing and potentially dangerous situation.
