18-Year-Old Indicted in Murder of Sheriff's Son

SAN ANGELO, TX -- Two months after fatally shooting John Samuel Dagan of Brady, a Tom Green County grand jury has indicted 18-year-old Arturo Garcia for murder.

Dagan, who is the son of McCulloch County Sheriff John Dagan, was killed on October 18 on Pecan St.

At the time of the shooting officers located Garcia walking away from the scene. Court records indicate officers found a gun when they apprehended Garcia.

During an interview with investigators, police learned Garcia was walking with another male subject in the alley on their way to a party.

Garcia admitted to police he had been affiliated with the South Side 25 for four years. He claimed there was a group of people walking towards them in the alley who yelled, "F--k South Side."

The groups then began exchanging gunfire and Garcia stated he knew he had struck someone.

Garcia remains at the Tom Green County Jail and is facing multiple charges in addition to murder.

The charges include possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, and unlawfully carrying a weapon.

He is currently being held on a $501,500 bond.
