The jail was relatively busy on Monday as compared to the day before, when 23 inmates, many with warrants or committments, were booked in various charges. Drug possession led Monday's booking report at seven counts, however one inmate alone was booked on four of those charges. Two were jailed for theft, two for DWI, two for evading arrest and two for marijuana possession, as well as another two who fled from a police officer.
Twenty-four inmates were released from the county jail on Monday, including one man who posted bond on 16 charges of issuance of a bad check, two failure to appear warrants and driving while license invalid. The checks included 11 ranging from $50.01 to $100; three ranging from $0 to $25; and one for $25.01 to $50. A final charge for bad checks did not have a sum attached to it.
The man, 22-year-old Jose Guadalupe Chavez, is listed as living in Big Lake. He currently has a pending charge of theft of property >/= $20<$50 by check. Chavez posted at total of $11,734 bond for the charges and was released on Monday after spending three days in the Tom Green County Jail.
