Suspect Killed, Deputy Hospitalized in Violent Shoot-Out

 

ODESSA, TX – The Ector County Sheriff's Office confirmed that a deputy was shot Thursday during a shoot-out with a wanted suspect.

According to the Ector County Sheriff's Office, on Dec. 10, deputies with the ECSO were attempting to make a traffic stop on an individual they knew was wanted for a state parole violation.

They two suspects in the vehicle fled from deputies throughout southwest Odessa until their vehicle came to a stop near the 1300 block of Wilson St. Once on Wilson St. the two suspects exited the vehicle and fled on foot.

The deputies continued to chase the two suspects until one of them turned around and shot one deputy. The deputies partner then pulled out his service weapon and killed the fleeing suspect.

The other suspect did get away and the Ector County Sheriff's Office is searching for him.

The deputy who was shot was transported to the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
