WASHINGTON D.C. -- According to the Army Times, the Army will be taking massive administrative actions that could effectively fire or suspend a "significant number" of officers and soldiers from Fort Hood.
Sources familiar with the situation stated the announcement will happen Tuesday after Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy and other officials release the results of an internal review.
In a recent video posted to Twitter, McCarthy announced he had reviewed the findings of the commission sent to Fort Hood to access the command climate.
“Leaders, regardless of rank, are accountable for what happens in their units and must have the courage to speak up and intervene when they recognize actions that bring harm to our soldiers and to the integrity of our institution," said McCarthy.
According to officials Base Commander Army Lt. Gen. Pat White of Fort Hood is not expected to face administrative action as he was deployed overseas most of the year.
But it is expected that Army Maj. Gen. Scott Efflandt, who was left in charge of the base, may face some sort of action after Guillen was killed during his command of Fort Hood.
Efflandt was originally supposed to transfer to Fort Bliss where he would over leadership of the 1st Armored Division. The transfer was paused as a result of the internal probe into the death of Guillen and other soldiers.
