Trunk or Treat a Ton of Fun

Cars lined the St. Luke’s Methodist Church parking lot with families in costumes, ranging from the mundane ‘cat ears’ to the elaborate costumes of “Despicable Me.”

“Thriller,” “Ghostbusters,” and a variety of dance songs kept folks grooving as the Trunk or Treat continued.

“We do it every year,” said the Schroeder Family, dressed at motocross riders, “it’s a great time.”

Kids of all ages trick-or-treated, danced, and some even bought a hotdog from the Wesley Campus Ministry fundraiser.

“I love trunk or treat because it is a safe and fun environment for all ages,” said Lori Jones, Director of Wesley Campus Ministries, “it helps the church connect and give back to the community.”

Wesley is a methodist college ministry that provides food, fellowship, and bible studies to college-age students of ASU and Howard.

Said students dressed In ‘80s regalia seemed to be have just as much fun as the kids, dancing and eating candy.

“There were a lot of happy kids,” said one member of the Wesley with a smile.

Safe and happy children was the goal, the idea being that if the candy is all in one place there are less opportunities for dangerous occurrences.

Less streets to cross and trick-or-treating from trustworthy people that parents know make the Trunk or Treat a popular alternative for door to door trick-or-treating.

From the smiles on the children’s faces you wouldn’t be able to tell that they were having any more or less fun than going door to door.
