Covid-19 Hospitalizations Up Saturday

SAN ANGELO, TX -- On Saturday afternoon, the San Angelo Health Department confirmed an additional 133 cases of Covid-19 and four new deaths.

With today's cases, the total positive case count officially surpasses 8,000. Meaning that in the month of November alone more than 3,000 new cases have been reported.

There are 1,962 active cases, with 85 patients currently hospitalized. Today's cases were confirmed using 49 PCR tests and 84 antigen tests.

The fluctuating hospitalization rate that goes under and over 15% continues to be a worrisome trend. If Traume Service Area K experiences seven days of over 15 percent then many businesses will be required to lower customer capacity or even close.

As had been the trend for several weeks COVID-19 continues affecting patients of every age group, from school-age children to elderly individuals.

On Saturday, the entire state of Texas reported 12,597 new cases and 171 new deaths.

The four patients who died as a result of coronavirus have been identified in the following manner:

  • male in his 80s from Tom Green County
  • female in her 80s from Tom Green County
  • female in her 60s from Tom Green County
  • female in her 80s from Schleicher County

This brings the total COVID-19-related death count in Tom Green County to 124: 76 from Tom Green County and 48 from other counties. We do not have any further information about the patients at this time.
