AUSTIN, TX — Project Veritas, a conservative investigative reporting organization, secretly videoed a San Antonio a political activist harvesting a vote for M.J. Hegar and the Texas Attorney General said his team is investigating. M.J. Hegar is the Democrat challenger to incumbent U.S. Senator John Cornyn, a Republican.
In a video published by Project Veritas, a disguised journalist followed an activist and vote harvester around San Antonio. The activist, Raquel Rodriguez, was filmed giving a shawl as a gift to an elderly voter who changed her vote from Cornyn to Hegar. She told the undercover reporter she was actually nominally working for GOP House candidate Mauro E. Garza, the owner of the San Antonio’s Pegasus Nightclub. She claimed Garza gave her $2,500 to purchase gifts to entice citizens, most of them seniors, to cast their ballots for Rodriguez’s clients.
She used some of that money to purchase an inventory of shawls, rosaries, diabetic socks, and wallets to gift mail-in ballot holders for voting for her candidates.
She and an associate she named as Tommy Acosta also hold parties where invitees are asked to register, or later, to fill out their mail-in ballots for the duo’s candidates, she admitted.
She claimed she was responsible for bringing at least 7,000 ballots to the polls.

RIGGED ELECTION: TX 'Ballot Chaser' Illegally Pressures Voters To Change Votes; "I could go to jail"
Texas Attorney General called the operation an “organized election fraud scheme” and said the one exposed in the Project Veritas video story is already under review by TAG investigators.
“What’s shown in the video is shocking and should alarm all Texans who care about election integrity. We are aggressively investigating the serious allegations and potential crimes that Project Veritas’s documentary audio and video recordings shed light on today,” Paxton said in a prepared statement.
“Individuals involved with or aware of the alleged election fraud shown in the recording are encouraged to come forward and cooperate with the Office of the Attorney General,” Paxton said.
In one part of the video, the undercover journalist jokes, “I guess Trump was right. (laughing) I’m sorry,” the reporter said, making light of President Trump’s warnings about fraud with mail-in ballots. Rodriguez said Trump was not wrong when he said that.
“Oh hell no, he’s not (wrong). It’s true—‘cause you’re not supposed to do that,” Rodriguez said.
The ballot harvesting exposed in this report is accomplished with requested ballots, where the mail-in ballot request was made by registered voter. Rodriguez and crew are accused of conducting forced assistance with the mail-in voter to influence how the person votes.
In contrast, Trump has repeatedly warned about another form of mail-in vote issue where states bulk mail ballots to citizens who didn’t request a ballot in the first place. How many more ballots could operatives like what Rodriguez described in the video happen if Rodriguez didn't have to chase down voters who actually requested a ballot?
The State of Texas is not bulk mailing ballots; the State only sends a ballot to a voter who requests one and is qualified to receive the ballot. According to the report, Rodriguez has a strategy on how to find recipients of those ballots to help those voters cast ballots for her clients.
