Witness Saves Drowning Man Who Crashed Into the Concho River

SAN ANGELO, TX – Bystanders cruising past the Concho river on Sunday saved a man who crashed his car into the river.

According to witnesses on scene, on September 27, while driving on the bridge on Koenigheim a family noticed a white passenger car crash into the water on the corner of Randolph and Veteran's Memorial Dr. They immediately went to help.

After finding a way to the car, one of the passengers jumped out and rescued the man by dragging him out of the sinking car and onto the bank. The passenger who saved the man is an ER nurse and was a lifeguard for five years.

San Angelo Police and EMTs arrived shortly after and swept the area for any more bodies. No one else was found.

The man was uninjured and the cause of the crash is unknown at this time.
