SAN ANGELO, TX – A Tom Green County Grand Jury indicted 36-year-old Fernando Jacobo-Tafoya on Sept. 10 for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon which is a second degree felony in Texas that carries a penalty of 2 to 20 years in prison and, or fines of up to $10,000.00.
As we previously reported, authorities with the San Angelo Police Department were dispatched to a residence off of Linda Lee Drive on July 24 following the report of a stabbing.
When officers arrived on scene they discovered the suspect, later identified as Fernando Jacobo-Tafoya by witnesses, had fled the scene once authorities were contacted.
As their investigation continued authorities observed a male victim who had multiple stab and or cut wounds to the right side of his abdomen just below the lower portion of his rib cage.
After speaking with witnesses in the area authorities positively identified 36-year-old Jacobo-Tafoya as the suspect who stabbed the victim before taking off on foot from the scene.
Following a short pursuit, Jacobo-Tafoya was arrested after he was found hiding at a residence down the street from the initial crime scene.
Following his apprehension authorities were able to confirm Jacobo-Tafoya is an illegal alien with active ICE warrants.
Jacobo-Tafoya was arrested and booked into the Tom Green County Jail at 5:23 a.m. on Friday July 24 for two charges including Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Miscellaneous ICE Hold where he faces a $25,000.00 bond.
On Sept. 10, Jacobo - Tafoya was indicted by a Tom Green County Grand Jury for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Fernando Jacobo-Tafoya is currently in the Tom Green County Jail awaiting an initial pretrial hearing scheduled for Nov. 3, 2020.
