Widespread Street Flooding in San Angelo Prompts Advisory

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – The National Weather Service in San Angelo has issued an Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for south Central Coke County, eastern Irion County, Tom Green County until 9:15 a.m. At 7:27 a.m. doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Some locations that will experience flooding include San Angelo, Mertzon, Christoval, Twin Buttes Reservoir, Lake Nasworthy, Tankersley, San Angelo State Park, O.c. Fisher Reservoir, Knickerbocker, Goodfellow Air Force Base, Grape Creek, Wall, Arden, Carlsbad, Sherwood, Veribest, Water Valley, Orient, Vancourt and Mereta. This includes the following Low Water Crossings... College Hills and Millbrook, Southwest Blvd and Loop 306, Howard and Webster, Jackson From Knickerbocker to South Bryant, FM 1692 crossing Concho River, FM 2334 crossing Ninemile Creek, RM 853 crossing Dry Draw, Ranch Road 859 crossing west Rocky Creek, FM 1692 crossing Sales Branch and FM 2334 crossing Dry Lipan Creek. Additional rainfall of 1 to 2 inches is expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.  A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
