Jim Ned CISD: 20 Cases Confirmed in First Week of School

TUSCOLA, TX — Jim Ned CISD is experiencing a coronavirus outbreak as they confirm 20 new cases less than a week after starting school.

According to the school district, the twenty cases are comprised of 15 teachers and 5 cases, most of them belonging to the elementary school.

According to Superintendent Glen Teal, at least two of the teachers tested positive before the school began.  Any student or staff member that tests positive will be quarantined for ten days.

"All students are masked out here," said Teal. "The person goes home, contact tracing begins, areas are sanitized."

In the event that more than 10-percent of staff and students on campus tests positive the following protocols will be put in place:

Entire campus moves to school at home for at least two days

The building closed for deep cleaning

All students and staff return if they are symptom free upon green light from the school district

Anyone in close contact with a lab-confirmed COVID-19 positive person will be informed of possible exposure

District-wide communication to staff/parents with health monitoring guidance.
