Caleb Montez at Coverlay Recognized by Industry Trade Organization

SAN ANGELO, TX — San Angelo's Coverlay Manufacturing Inc. announced that Executive Vice President Caleb Montez was recognized as a “35 Under 35” honoree by the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA)'s news magazine.

Each year, the publication highlights the specialty-equipment industry’s best and brightest rising young talent in a special September-issue feature. In selecting its honorees, SEMA News judges consider the nominees' business success, contribution to their organization, industry knowledge and community involvement. At just 26 years old, Montez has already risen from the ranks of an hourly employee on the assembly line, returning to college to earn a second degree in business, and now is one of the company's Executive Vice President.

Coverlay, located in San Angelo's Industrial Park at 4017 US 67 north, manufactures aftermarket interior auto parts including dash covers, door panels, door inserts, and instrument cover panel covers for various makes and models. The company has been in business since 1982.

According to Coverlay, Montez is known for projecting an attitude of positive teamwork, and it has truly shaped his approach to his current role. “Managing people is the most exciting and challenging aspect of our business segment right now,” Montez said, having played a role in steering the automotive interior replacement parts company through the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic. “Meeting the needs of such a diverse group of employees and customers can be challenging at times, but the smile we put on their faces is what motivates us.” The "35 Under 35" recognition serves as a snapshot of the imprint next generation of talent in the industry.

SEMA Vice President and Editorial Director John Stewart views the feature as both powerful and encouraging. "When we look at the nominations as a group, we can see that the industry still appeals to young people who are bright, ambitious, enthusiastic and unafraid of hard work," said Stewart. "Learning about the contributions of so many impressive young people has become one of the most professionally satisfying projects we work on during the year," he said. SEMA News is the flagship membership publication of the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA), and the official voice of the performance, specialty and accessory industry.
