ABILENE, TX — On Tuesday afternoon the Abilene-Taylor County Health District reported 24 new cases of COVID-19. The new cases were confirmed using 17 PCR tests and 7 antigen tests.
According to the data presented by local officials, the total case count has risen to 1,036 which accounts for nine percent of the total number of individuals tested for coronavirus using PCR testing.
The city has tested a total of 16,731 individuals since the pandemic began. County data shows 91 percent of those tested have received negative test results.
There are currently 909 active cases and 45 of them are hospitalized. Twenty-one of the hospitalizations are classified as in-county and twenty-four are classified as of out of the county. The average age of a hospitalized patient is 59.
Since the pandemic started Taylor County has reported 15 deaths. The average age of death is 72 years old.
