Target Will Be Closed on Thanksgiving Day

SAN ANGELO, TX — In the last few years Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday have become some of the busiest shopping days of the year. Stores have adapted to the demand by extending shopping hours and access to sales.

Last week Walmart announced they would be closed on Thanksgiving Day the first time since the 1980s. On Monday, Target announced it would also be closing  to keep employees and customers safe.

“There’s no question, the holiday season is going to be very different this year. Just as you’ve trusted Target for safe, convenient shopping throughout the pandemic, you can count on us to deliver that and so much more every week throughout the holiday season and beyond,” said the retailer in a statement. “And while that first bite of pumpkin pie and gifting wish lists are still months away, today we’re giving you a first look at how we’re adjusting our plans to make the holiday shopping experience simple, safe and stress-free.”

In an effort to prevent the gathering of large crowds Target will be implementing several measures during the coming months.

Starting in October, Target stores will be offering their traditional holiday sales earlier than usual. This will allow shoppers to purchase sale items in-store and online.

In addition to closing stores on Thanksgiving, the retailer will be making more than Making 20,000 more products—including fresh and frozen groceries—available via our pickup and delivery services.

Stores will offer contact-less same day services like Drive Up, Order Pickup, and Same-day Delivery with Shipt at nearly 1,500 Target store in the fall.
