SAN ANGELO, TX —Serving her community and helping those in need is something near and dear to the heart of Tulisha Bennett, but now she is the one in need of prayers and support.
Last Friday evening Bennett collapsed and was transported to Shannon Medical Center where doctors determined a major brain aneurysm had ruptured inside her brain. She was then airlifted to Austin to receive additional care.
Bennett is one of the founding members of The Firefighters Closet, a local non-profit organization that helps families in need due to natural disasters in and out of the Concho Valley. The organization provides clothing, blankets, shoes, and items they may need. In nearly 4 years the organization has helped over 10,000 families.
“She has given 110% back to the community through The Firefighters Closet in the past three and a half years and she has the drive, dedication, and motivation to help those in need,” said founder and friend Amanda McPeak.
According to family friends, she is currently in the intensive care unit, under heavy sedation, and requiring extensive medical care.
Unfortunately, Bennett does not have health insurance and her family is being forced to deal with the reality of her condition and the rising cost of her hospitalization bills.
Anyone interested in donating helping the Bennet family can donate on a GoFundMe page set up by family friends.
“Tulisha would give the shirt off her back and always there for everyone she came across,” said McPeak. “Let’s please help her during her most crucial moments!”
Donations can also be made to a bank account at the Bank & Trust that has a San Angelo location at Knickerbocker Rd. and Jackson St. Please direct your gift to The Tulisha Bennett Fund at the bank.
A prayer vigil will also be held this Saturday, July 25 at the San Angelo Coliseum parking lot at 10 a.m. Community members are asked to attend and show their support for Bennett’s husband, Casey, and a 14-year-old daughter who will be present at the prayer event.
