Coronavirus: Over 85 Infants Tested Positive in South Texas County

 

CORPUS CHRISTI — On Friday, July 17 the Nueces County Health Director confirmed 85 babies had tested positive for COVID-19.

According to Fox 6, Nueces County has one of the fastest-growing infection rates in the country. 

“We currently have 85 babies under the age of one here in Nueces County that have all tested positive for COVID-19,” said Director Annette Rodriguez during a live stream. “Please help us to stop the spread of this disease. Stay social distanced from others. Stay protected, wear a mask when in public. And for everyone else, please do your best to stay home.”

According to Corpus Christi City Manager Peter Zazoni, the county has averaged a little over 350 new cases every day.

On Sunday afternoon, the county confirmed 172 new cases, bringing the total case count to 8,579. There currently 383 patients hospitalized and 1,075 have recovered.
