SAN ANTONIO, TX — Bexar County officials have confirmed the death of the Bexar County Emergency Management Coordinator on Tuesday.
According to KSAT, Kyle Coleman died due to complications of COVID-19. Coleman was in charge of the development, implementation, and management of Bexar County’s response to COVID-19 and other local disasters
Coleman also served as a founding member of the Alamo Area All-Hazards Incident Management Team. According to Judge Nelson Wolff, this was the first all-hazard incident team in Texas.
“He had over 30 years’ experience in emergency management and he built the county’s emergency management department starting in 2005,” said Wolff.
Judge Wolff also described Wolff as a good friend.
“I spent a lot of time with him, mostly around natural disasters, and he was a great, great public servant,” said Wolff.
The judge also shared a message from Coleman’s wife: “It is my hope that this will bring attention to the importance of wearing masks and practicing safe distance.”
A statement from a Bexar County spokeswoman said he was “a dedicated public servant for many years and a tireless advocate for the region.”
