Hendrick Regional Blood Center Searching For COVID-19 Plasma Donors

 

ABILENE, TX — The Hendrick Regional Blood Center announced it will be collecting convalescent plasma from patients who have recovered from COVID-19.

According to KTXS, the collection of convalescent plasma is part of a research trial that is currently overseen by the Mayo Clinic. 

Studies have shown that antibodies that are developed in plasma from recovered COVID-19 patients. According to the Mayo Clinic, researchers hope the plasma can be administered to patients with severe symptoms in order to boost their ability to fight the virus.

Individuals who have a confirmed positive COVID-19 test and have recovered can be eligible to donate convalescent plasma.
