ABILENE, TX — After racist graffiti was spray-painted onto the side fence of the Station 1 Venue, two Abilene men took action to cover the offensive language.
According to KTXS, Robbie Johnson and Robert Maldonado painted over a swastika and the phrase “No more f---ing N-words.”
Their efforts were applauded by Mayor Anthony Williams who encouraged all Abilene citizens to take a stand against racism and hate.
"I undoubtedly know our city is home to good people who love and care for fellow residents, no matter our differences or interests," said Mayor Williams. "I am always bothered to see vulgar or hateful displays against any group and will not tolerate it."
According to Chief Stan Standridge, the department is looking for the individual(s) responsible for the graffiti. In addition, Johnson and Williams will be recognized by the Abilene Police Department.
"The graffiti is both a violation of law and also an extreme offense to our citizens," said Police Chief Stan Standridge. "It does not reflect the heart of our city."
