SAN ANGELO, TX — An argument over a go-kart race led to an early morning altercation involving gunfire.
According to the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office, around 3: 26 a.m. on Monday morning deputies were dispatched to the 2030 block of Copper Rock, for a report of shots fired.
When deputies arrived at the scene, the victim told them he had seen a white vehicle drive past his residence, turn around, and then stop near his driveway.
According to the victim, the suspect exited the vehicle and began yelling the victim’s name and began firing multiple gunshots toward the victim. The victim told deputies he feared for his life and returned the fire.
During the investigation, deputies identified the suspect at 37-year-old Dustin Ray Jackson. Deputies also learned that Jackson and the victim had an earlier altercation on Friday, June 5.
The argument arose after go-karts sustained damage during a race at the WFO Motorsports Park on US HWY 87.
Hours later on Saturday, June 6, Jackson returned to WFO Motorsports Park and attempted to further confront the victim. The suspect made threats towards the victim and his family.
Jackson has been arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Felony of Second Degree. Jackson was placed in the Tom Green County Jail on a $75,000.00 bond.
This is an ongoing investigation and no other information will be released at this time.
