Taylor County Reopens County Offices Monday

ABILENE, TX – On Tuesday, the Taylor County Commissioner’s Court passed a resolution to reopen county offices to the public on Monday, May 18.

According to KTXS, the reopening will follow Governor Abbott’s ‘Phase 2” guidelines and will include precautions and procedures to ensure the safety of visitors.

Elevators and restrooms will be limited to two people at a time to ensure social distancing and certain floors will be marked in “high traffic areas.”

"We will continue to screen our employees and public," said County Judge Downing Bowls.

Senior citizens, 65 and older, and those with underlying health conditions will have access to county offices between 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.

Visitors that are over 65 or have a serious medical condition are asked to call the court to arrange court appearances by telephone or video conference.

The Taylor County Jail and Juvenile Detention Center will continue to remain closed to the general public.
