Someone Set a Fire at Reagan Elementary Playground

 

A small fire damaged playground equipment at Reagan Elementary School, 1600 Volney.  Witnesses saw some juveniles in the playground at Reagan Elementary. Someone said they saw the kids playing with fire. Several pieces of playground equipment were damaged. The San Angelo Fire Department said that the damage was approximately $1,500

Causing $1,500 in damage is a Class A misdemeanor for criminal mischief.

The fire department said that cameras are on the premise. Arson investigators are in the process of reviewing the video footage.They are also talking to witnesses.

If the kids are 17 years of age, the charge will land them in the Tom Green County Jail. If the kids are between 10 and 16 years of age, the juvenile justice system will handle the case. If the kids are under 10, the fire department will be talking to the parents.

The fire department said that the fire was probably set with paper and ignited the dry wood chips on the ground. There was no use of accelerant, like gasoline.
