NWS: Wind Advisory for Most of Texas Friday

SAN ANGELO, TX – The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for most of Texas until Friday evening.

According to the NWS, north winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts over 45 mph expected at times across all of west central Texas including Abilene, San Angelo, Brownwood, Brady, and Interstates 10 and 20.

The advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. this evening. Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. In addition, patchy areas of blowing dust may develop, resulting in reduced visibilities. Winds this strong can knock down tree limbs and make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Secure loose outdoor objects.

A cold front will bring strong north winds to the area today, gusting 40 to 50 mph at times. A Wind Advisory remains in effect today. The strong winds will also combine with a dry air mass to create elevated fire weather conditions. A Fire Danger Statement is also in effect for portions of the area.
