SAN ANGELO, TX – Grape Creek ISD has announced its plans to celebrate an alternative graduation ceremony to “celebrate the many milestones and accomplishments of our amazing and talented group of graduates.”
In an effort to provide students with the experience of walking the stage dressed in their caps and gowns, the school will conduct private ceremonies for each student and their parents.
According to the district, each private ceremony will be filmed by a professional photographer who will compile all the videos into one production. The final production will include all aspects of normal graduation ceremonies, such as the valedictorian and salutatorian speeches and recognition of student accomplishments, resulting in a full-length, virtual graduation ceremony.
The video will be presented behind Grape Creek High School on a giant screen on the day of graduation. This option will allow seniors, their families and friends, staff, and community members the opportunity to view the entire ceremony from the safety of their vehicles on the regularly-scheduled graduation day (according to the school calendar).
“At this time, we plan to present the virtual ceremony on a continual loop throughout the day of graduation to better accommodate all who wish to view it and stream it on our school website as well at www.grapecreekisd.net. Specific times will be shared with the public closer to the day of the virtual graduation ceremony.”
The official graduation day for the 2020 graduates of Grape Creek ISD is Friday, May 22, 2020. The ceremonies will follow the recommended safety guidelines and sanitizing procedures.
