LUBBOCK, TX – As of Thursday, April 9, the City of Lubbock has confirmed a total of 234 cases of Coronavirus. Since the day the first case was announced the city has seen significant daily spikes, including 5 days with more than 20 new cases confirmed.
There are currently 163 active cases, 62 recovered cases, and 9 deaths. According to city data, fifty percent of cases have been contracted by individuals in nursing homes.
There are currently 118 cases in nursing homes, 45 cases are a result of community spread, 32 are classified as active cases, 18 are pending investigation, and 7 are healthcare workers. There are currently only 14 cases associated with travel exposure.

The City of Lubbock has administered 2,811 tests with 109 still pending. The city also released that there are currently 43 patients that are hospitalized with symptoms consistent with COVID-19. Of those cases, only 15 are confirmed.
