Coronavirus: Scurry County Confirms Resident is Positive

SNYDER, TX – Scurry County officials confirmed Wednesday the first case of coronavirus in their community.

According to KTXS, the patient is a male in his 50s. The patient contacted Cogdell Memorial Hospital to complain of fever and shortness of breath. He was evaluated at the drive-in and then taken to an isolation room at the ER.

After medical staff evaluated the patient and believed he may be infected with COVID-19 he was transferred to an outside institution in "serious but stable condition."

The patient told medical staff he traveled to Lubbock on March 18 for a doctor’s appointment. After returning home he had no outside contact with outside people before going to the hospital.

Personnel that came into contact with the patient were all equipped with PPE.
