PT Cruiser Rams Work Truck on Loop 306

Traffic suddenly backed up for the exit ramp for Knickerbocker Road early this morning on Loop 306. Police said that was one of the contributing environmental factors causing a PT Cruiser to ram into the rear of work truck.

Police said that the white Dodge flatbed pickup came to a sudden stop as traffic slowed headed for the exit in the eastbound lanes. The driver of the PT Cruiser was unable to stop in time before crashing into the Dodge.

The silver PT Cruiser was cited for Failure to Control speed. The driver of the PT Cruiser sustained minor injuries but refused medical treatment at the scene.

San Angelo police and the regalia of San Angelo Fire Department personnel tended to the scene. DPS was there too.

Police said that traffic jams at this exit are common around 8 a.m. and again at 5 p.m.

it's not the fault of traffic, but the fault of the driver who is following...
I wouldn't doubt if this accident was caused, even if only partially caused, by people I refer to as "Highway Moochers". You know those people that get on the on-ramp just to get right back off the highway, so they can avoid the yield sign on the frontage road?? The problem with "THESE PEOPLE" is that they rarely get up to highway speed, and cause problems for people actually getting on, or off, the highway. Like I said, I wouldn't doubt if one of these highway moochers wasn't part of the cause of this accident. Highway mooching should be illegal! It's unsafe, and stupid to exert so much effort, just so you don't have to yield on the frontage road!!

Good grief - the condition was failure to control speed and following too close, you see it anytime of the day or night on almost any street. Try driving from Loop 306 down Southwest Blvd around 8:00 am, a lady in a orangeish Dodge Journey will flat run you over just like all her co-workers who are habitually late getting to work at Performant next to Hobby Lobby. Where are the cops each morning when this lady tops out at 50 mph in a 35 mph zone??? This scene is replayed each and every morning. Those folks are late to work so they put everyone else on the road in jeopardy.
