CHRISTOVAL, TX – Christoval ISD announced Monday all of their schools will continue home-based instruction until the end of the school year on May 28, 2020.
In a press release David Walker, Superintendent of Christoval ISD announced faculty and staff is working on improving the current delivery of instruction.
“In addition to overseeing and providing home-based instruction for the remainder of the year, your faculty and staff will be working extra duty during this time and into the summer striving to build upon what we are already doing and to meet all of the new initiatives of House Bill 3, Senate Bill 11, and many more,” said Walker.
The district is focusing on accomplishing two main objectives: “ensure…students remain competitive,” and “plan for the worst-case scenario of this pandemic bleeding over into the Fall of 2020.”
“Our educators, parents, and students owned that portion of our Mission Statement of being self-sufficient during the unexpected events of this spring,” said Walker. “Much has been learned on how to do things differently. In saying that, should we have to continue this method of instructional delivery, we want to be even better than we are now.”
Over 5.5 million Texas students have been impacted by school closures and many will inevitability be behind when courses resume in the fall.
Staff and faculty must “structure curriculum and lesson planning for the Fall of 2020 that will account for the modified instruction that is taking place this spring (2020) so students have the tools and knowledge they need.”
The school welcomes feedback from parents and assure families their faculty and staff is available to help families in any way they can.
“Our faculty and staff will always be here for you even though we physically cannot be in the same classroom for now,” said Walker. “We will remain vigilant in encouraging you to do your best and to stay on task. We are always an email, or a telephone call away when help is needed.”
“Parents and Guardians, you and your children have been amazing. We hope to see you in the fall under normal circumstances. Please keep a lookout for future updates. Take care and stay healthy!”
