Woman Indicted in Tom Green County for Attempting to Drown Child

SAN ANGELO, TX – A woman has been indicted by a Tom Green County Grand Jury for attempted to drown one of her children.

According to the affidavit signed by the Justice of the Peace, on Dec. 10, 2019, officers with San Angelo Police Department were alerted of a possible family violence case that where a mother may have attempted to drown her child.

The following day investigators met with the family and learned what occurred a few days prior.

The witnesses told them that it began on December 7 when one of the children was inside of a bedroom and heard sounds of flailing in the bathtub. When the child went to find out what the noise was he discovered Meagan Carver, 31, with a towel around  the victim drying the child off.

After the children were alone, the child that was in the bath told the other that Carver had attempted to drown her. After learning this the child told an adult what the child had accused Carver of. Later that same day, the child found Carver and the victim in the bathtub again.

The next day, Dec. 8, the adult told the child that he had to leave but while he was gone to not let Carver out of the bedroom. Shortly after he left, the child once again heard water running in the bathroom and then turn off. Carver then entered the living room where the children were and Carver approached the victim. The child then pushed Carver onto the couch and told another sibling to call the Adult.

While being held down on the couch, Carver allegedly kept repeating "I have to" multiple times. The affidavit states that none of the children witnessed the victim being held under water.

During the interviews that occurred on Dec. 11 the officers spoke with the victim who told them that Carver had attempted to drown her. The child stated that while in the bathtub Carver put both hands around the victim's neck and forced the victim's head uner the water.

The adult was then spoken to and he informed officers that after the first incident he did not let Carver back into the bathrooms and that he took Carver to the doctor.

Carver is charged with aggravated assault of a deadly weapon. Her bond is set at $75,000

Her initial pretrial begins May 5 at 2:00 p.m.
