Coronavirus: Early Childhood Center Temporarily Closes

SAN ANGELO, TX – San Angelo Early Childhood Center announced Monday it will be closed until April 6 out of an abundance of caution because of the Coronavirus.

In a series of Facebook posts, the center explained it experienced secondary exposure and a child was tested for the virus. Management asked parents to pick up their kids as soon as it was possible.

“We are sorry that we had to close. We had hoped to remain open because so many of you depend upon us for your child care, but we felt that the risk outweighed the reward,” said Executive Director Cynthia Lackey. “We will not be charging any tuition or CCS co-pays during the time that we are closed.”

Staff explained that two staff members visited their family this weekend. A family member, who was not there, tested positive for the virus, and some family members had been in contact with that patient. The center decided temporarily closing its doors was the best course of action they could follow.

The child that was tested was not at the San Angelo Early Education Center and is not showing any symptoms and does not have a temperature. The child was tested as a cautionary measure.

“We have a company coming in to clean the Center from top to bottom and will re-open on April 6. I will keep you updated if anything changes through our text notifications. Please save our number so that you know we aren't SPAM,” said Lackey.
