Coronavirus: Midland Confirms First Positive Case

 

MIDLAND, TX – The City of Midland has confirmed its first case of COVID-19. The case was confirmed late Thursday evening.

According to MRT.com, the patient is a male in a male in his 60’s and is currently in isolation. According to the city, “all of the necessary precautions have taken place since the patient became a person under investigation.”

This is the second case in the Permian Basin after the University of Texas Permian Basin confirmed one of their employees tested positive.

As of Thursday evening, the Texas Department of State Health Service reports there are currently 194 cases in the state and that 5 deaths have occurred since the outbreak. The counties with over 20 cases of infected individuals are Dallas, Harris, and Travis. There are currently 19 cases pending county assignments. Case counts are updated every day at noon, central time.
